They met, they kissed,
Explored the parallel worlds of that and this,
A teasing note, a light in the eye,
A faint smile, a need to touch,
Impatient breathing, a fastening of pulse,
The innocuous gifts,
The whiff of romance,
The heady pheromones scent,
The craving to feel the silk of skin,
Every contour of that beautiful being,
The urge to satiate that burning thirst,
Days, then months of sheer bliss,
Of each other, as if nothings amiss,
Of love, of laughter, of happiness,
And then…
And then the tide slowly ebbs,
The fire dies out and there’s nothing left,
Now, the beautiful face is a little distorted,
The wonderful being a tad exhausted,
You touch, you caress, you feel no more,
The interesting conversation goes out the door,
Your sleeping partner is beginning to bore,
Is it a systems flaw, ingrained, inbuilt,
Or a man’s search for a perfect mate,
Or maybe it’s excitement he seeks,
A new chapter to thrill,
A different buddy to devour and feel!
