Running After

When you are running away from something, someone,
You hide; sit on the furthest rock away from prying eyes,
In that moment there’s a window to breathe, to distill stillness from noise,
To stop running if only for a while.
But when you chase after something, someone,
There’s no respite, you’ll always be running behind,
Hoping to catch up some day and make up for lost time,
It’s a foolish notion, yet, the fool who’s running can’t see it,
To him the very act of running is his whole life.
