All That You Desire

Often, it’s the way of nature,
To enjoy the other, you need to be alone,
Alone with his thoughts, with lingering promises, breezing in, breezing out,
Alone with the blueness of the sky reflected in water,
Alone with the greenness of trees and the stillness of all matter,
And suddenly he’s everywhere,
In the dust beneath your feet, in the slight tingling of your skin,
Who’s away and who’s near, who can tell?
Often, when nature wants you to experience love in its entirety,
In its rarest, gentlest, inexplicable form,
It lets you be,
It lets you be alone; alone with his thought, with his song,
That moment is a union, a marriage of sorts,
Where all that you desire is yours.

The Song of the Sufi Masroof
