The Face of Fear

The face of fear isn't dark or menacing, even ugly or lonesome,
It’s the crumbling of a child’s face being weaned away from a mother’s breast,
Its cries so loud, gut-wrenching,
A paralysis of the mind, sudden darkening of a clear blue sky,
For the brief moment in time, fear rules the mind,
It swallows in its fold, all the goodness that the nimble heart holds.

The Song of the Sufi Masroof

True...For me, fear is a state of mind, the fear of losing a dear one, the fear of losing my own self, the fear of betrayal. Not easy to overcome.
