Come Like A Poem

Come like the promise of rain,
On a sultry summer night,
Seamless like the countless threads,
Woven into a beautiful bed-spread of blue and white.

Mirthful like a wild elephant,
Tramping through an endless trek.
Swift as the morning sun,
Rising over my balcony, blinding me.

Certain like the dewdrops,
Laying face down on moist leaves.
Blow in like the unexpected draft that,
Gently tugs at the hall curtains.

Come like a poem, sweet and urgent,
Fall from that higher realm of consciousness.
Come, come like you'd want me to come,
If, in some lifetime,
You were the one waiting for me...

The Song of the Sufi Masroof
