There was a time I didn’t believe in many lives,
I didn’t want to,
I was scared to come back,
To have to go through school again.
How silly are our fears but how big they appear,
When I was seven I heard my mum tell someone,
That she won’t live past forty,
I didn’t know then how old she was,
But I remember crying in the pillow,
Wondering what to do,
As I grew up I figured everyone was fearful,
But they covered it so well,
That no one need know,
The sky is falling,
It hasn’t yet fallen and maybe it never will,
But the fears are very real,
They hide in dark corners like crickets in grass,
Making that awful, eerie sound that dooms the heart,
They leave one day and return another,
Bringing new ones, burying the old,
Only in deep sleep they are silent,
Dead for a little while like the body,
Maybe they too get tired,
Of being false.

Everybody fears...and there's no end.. but just as Swami Vivekanand says, "If you fear, you are nobody."
When I was young I always thought we grow up and become fearless...but I realized we are fearless only in childhood, the only time when we are ignorant of this whole wide world. "The day you get tired of that pretense you overcome your fears":)
Cheers,
@ Tanvi, you hit the nail on the head, 'we are fearless only in childhood', calls for anotehr poem! Thank you, beautiful indeed!
